Default The Future of Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit Records?

Well, ever since Em's return, it seems that everyone in the trio seems to be working more.

Where do you see these labels in the next 5 years though?

As for Shady Records, I would say that they are probably going to be the most active. I mean, with Em's return he said he's going to be willing to work with the artists on his label, (Which I presume means D12, and 50 Cent.} I could see D12 releasing another album, but unless they get another new member, they're only going to be feeding off of EM's popularity, as their "buzz," is near to nil as of right now. 50's Buzz has always been present, but unfortunately Gangsta Rap just isn't as relative as it was back in the early 2000's. As for Cashis, I think that there's going to be a conflict. He work's really hard; always producing more and more material, but unfortunately he's going to be dropped from Interscope. We all know this. The conflict comes into play in the regard that Cashis pretty much idolizes Em. Em is his son's Godfather. Plus Cashis is always proclaiming, "Shady4Life," and if he was dropped from Shady, I don't think he'd go quitely. He never really had a lot of Buzz, and unless he gets some major guest appearances on mainstream, he's not going to be selling anything anytime soon.

I heard that Royce da 5'9" is signed to Shady. That would be phenomanol news since, Em and Royce had a great relationship back in the day. That would mean that Bad Meets Evil, and possibly Slaughterhouse, would be signed too. Slaughterhouse has also been generating a buzz, so this would be great for the label. Lastly, there was also reports that Redman might be considering signing to the label, and as we all know, you can't have Redman w/o Methodman. Jesus Christ, that'd be sick.

G-Unit Records seems to be more dead than Shady at the moment. 50 doesn't even release his albums on G-unit, and since Lloyd Banks, and Tony Yayo, only seem to be in the Mixtape game at the moment, I don't see them going anywhere. G-Unit seems to be the only thing on the label that consistantly drops an album, but with Young Buck gone, I don't see them dropping another one anytime soon. 40 Glocc, Spider Loc, Nyce, and Young Hot Rod, haven't dropped anything on the label during the 2-5 years they've been on the label respectively, with the exception of Spi. I don't see them releasing anything else, and I'd like to see them dropped, in favor of more notable artists such as, Beanie Sigel, who is currently in the works of signing. Mobb Deep, was also confirmed to be off the label by 50, and Mazzardi Fox says he's also off the label. Game, is also still on the label according to Fif, and he has to pay him not to use the G-unit logo.

Aftermath is going to be dead until Detox is out. If that ever happens. After that, I could see Bishop Lamont, actually dropping an album, as well as Slim Da Mobster. I could see this because of the "Dre Album Effect." Snoop's career was launched from Chronic, Eminem's presence was also further made known on 2001. I think Bishop and Slim will benefit off of this clause on Detox.

I'd like to see Game back on Aftermath and G-Unit. I mean, Dre and Game are cool, and you can see that there's no clear problem between Game and Fif. Game said he'd work with FIf again, and Fif's just holding a grudge at this point. It's not secret that when the whole Game shit occured, S/A/G fell off as King of Hip Hop. If they were able to get over these problems, they'd no doubt be able to re-take their title in 2010 with Detox, R2, and R.E.D.

I also may add that Relapse 2 is the most anticipated Rap Album thus far. Em's doing everything right, by teasing with the High profile guest appearances, Refill, and the Award Performances. The worst thing Fif could have done was pushing back his album so many times and giving everyone 2 mixtapes. Bottom Line: I could see Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit relaunched in 2010.

Thoughts?

50 Cent the director? lol

Eminem is the only artist dropping on any of them. 50 will walk after his Greatist Hits is out. Everybody on Aftermath will be "Detoxed".

I can see them being more active than ever, considering if game signs, If not then Em, G unit and Slaughterhouse will be the biggest thing too look out for.

I could see all of that happening, but I think Detox will be released within the next two years. I mean, Dre wants to just produce, and Detox is killing aftermath until it drops.

I couldn't agree more w/ your 50 prediction. I think he should pull an Ice Cube, Ice T, and LL and just mcbail onto TV and the big screen. He's a great actor, and director and has a lot of great potential. But I could also see him getting at least another two platinum records before he retires.

I would also say that your Em prediction is acurate, though I really hope it doesn't happen. I hope he ends up like Snoop and goes for 14, and if he slips into gold it's not like it's the end of the world.
